Ratings for Bay and Ocean racing

How do I have my boat measured for an Ocean Racing rating?
Contact the Ocean Rating Officer HERE for details.

I want to race in Bay races. What do I need to do ?
Contact the Bay Rating Officer HERE for details.

What does OMR mean?
OMR stands for the "Offshore Multihull Rule".
This is a mathematical method of calculating the theoretical performance
of a boat to arrive at a rating.
More detail than you ever really wanted to know can be found HERE.

What does PCF mean?
That depends, like a lot of things in life, on who you talk to.
The OMR rating officer will say PCF means "Propeller Correction Factor".
This rating is a multiplier on your Time Correction Factor to allow for those 2 huge
25" x 13" 4 blade propellers that you insist on trying to use while sailing.

On the other hand, the Arbitrary Rating Officer  will say that
PCF means "Performance Correction Factor".
This PCF is the unfair and cruel rating inflicted on
your vessel for doing so well in races. :-)

How come my rating went up when I won?
Ratings are a reflection of how well your boat performs.
If your rating goes up, it means you're sailing better than
the others in the fleet, so be joyful.   :-)

Who told the Bay Rating Officer that
I spent time on a sand-bank in the last race?
Lot's of people.  :-)
