MYCQ

WELCOME TO THE BEACH CAT AND SKIFF SECTION

Location

The Beach Cat section of the MYCQ is located on the rock wall at the Northern End of Manly Boat harbour. The building has a blue roof and the rigging grounds are right beside the clubhouse. A boat ramp leads directly from the rigging yard into the harbor entrance. Manly boat harbor leads into the protected waters of Waterloo Bay, which is a small bay within Moreton Bay. Most club racing is inside Waterloo Bay.

Classes

All classes are welcome. Most boats in the membership are either catamarans or 16 foot skiffs. Catamarans are divided into a large fleet of high performance boats (Taipans, Nacras, A-class, Hobie Tigers), but there is also a small fleet of smaller or older designs of boats (Windrush, Hobies, Maricats).

Facilities

The clubhouse has a bar which is open during sailing days. At lunchtime during sailing days (most Sundays), the club puts on a BBQ lunch. The clubhouse has a verandah for viewing over the bay. The MYCQ owns several high-powered motorboats which act as rescue boats during racing. Club members are entitled to use the club’s Maricat catamarans. The club has hot showers which are always well used after the day’s sailing. All club members are entitled to a key to the yard and shower facilities, so they may be accessed at any time (not just during race days). The club is not presently scheduling learn to sail classes

Sailing Times

Sailing is held on most Sundays during Summer and occasionally on Saturdays also. There is a less frequent timetable during Winter. Occasionally the fleet attends sailing at other clubs.

Membership
